Strategy

Operational concept

Stockholm Science City Foundation shall, by acting as a base camp for joint projects, create preconditions for enhanced collaboration between the universities in Stockholm, business/industry, Stockholm City and Stockholm County Council. The organisation is a tool for its stakeholders to use in order to facilitate the implementation of joint projects plus the marketing of the geographical area Stockholm Science City (KI, KTH, SU, HHS) with its contents and its breadth of research in order to promote its attractiveness in an international context.

The geographical area in question is, thanks to its critical mass of cutting edge research of considerable breadth, its location around the capital city with proximity to international airports, financial centre etc. an area that is able to hold its own in competition in the international arena.

1.2 Vision

Stockholm Science City will develop into one of Europe’s most dynamic areas with innovative business/industry, society and leading academic environments working together in close cooperation.

1.3 Mission

The mission of Stockholm Science City is to facilitate cross-pollination within research between the three universities and through collaboration with business/industry, Stockholm City and Stockholm County Council in order to promote interdisciplinary research cooperation, sustainable development of innovations, coordination, exchange of information and marketing.

1.4 Value platform

• Everything is possible!
• Collaboration to create added value for everyone. Or in other words “What’s in it for them?”
• Sensitivity without prestige
• Long term
• Pragmatic and professional
• Neutral. SSC is to researchers, business/industry and society what a base camp is to mountain climbers – it gathers together forces and facilitates in order to provide the preconditions for them to reach the top.

1.5 Objectives

• To establish Stockholm Science City as an internationally recognized centre for life science.
• To contribute to the creation of 5000 new employment opportunities within the area by 2012.
